Top tips for selling

We don't want to lose any one of our clients but hoping that you only want to sell your Spanish home to buy another one, we provide you with some top tips to help. Tip no. 1 find a reputable estate agent who knows the area wellclick here to read the rest.

Driving over Lemons again

Did you read the book 'Driving Over Lemons' by Chris Stewart? Many expats have, before, during or after making the decision to take the plunge and relocate themselves. They might not have made quite such a bold move as Chris. Briefly a drummer with Genesis then a sheep shearer and finally a writer he went to live in a derelict farmhouse south of Granada.

However, we perhaps all share the sense of optimism that sends us in search of a different kind of life. If you liked the book and want to know what he's up to now, try reading his blog on listisimo - the website all about saving money.

It's in the beans

Well we've found out something new about our readers. You love optical illusions! The link to the coffee bean conundrum was the most popular from February's newsletter. And what a clever lot. Of those who responded to our survey 81% were able to spot the hidden man in less than one minute. If you missed the link last time, here it is again.

And just in case you haven't had enough, we found the original site where the coffee beans came from, with lots more illusions on which to mull. Beware. Visit this website and you'll be seeing double.

Saving energy

A good article with some practical advice. Much of it might be common sense but the idea about the 10 minute-blast was news to me. Read it and you'll see what I mean. Click here.

Inheritors don't need to come to Spain

Bereavement is a blow whenever and wherever it strikes and however much it is anticipated. What makes it worse is if you aren't prepared. One reassuring factor when writing your will and making plans is that your inheritors need not come to Spain for your affairs to be settled. To find out more about what they will need to do click here to read our article...

I say, I say, I say, what's a webinar?

IA ´webinar´ is an on-line seminar - perfect for those who prefer to listen to information rather than read it. Ábaco is organising a series of webinars so you can find out more about life and law in Spain. The webinars can be listened to on your PC at home/ work/ play and they're interactive so you can ask questions if you want to. We´d like to know when the best time would be for you to listen in:

Mid morning

Coming over?
What's coming up?

Ancient Grease
The clue is in the title of this musical to be staged in Los Arcos restaurant, Torrevieja. It's Danny and Sandy a few years on. The slick quaff has been transformed into a receding hairline and the petty coats have been replaced by over coats. It's an original script that should make you smile and have you singing along - if you can remember the words! Performances are running from Wednesday 25th May to Friday 27th May. For tickets at 8€ each ring Dan on (00 34) 662438002.

Mothers' DAYS
Which do you opt for? Celebrating Mothering Sunday on 3rd April or el dia de la madre on the 8th May? Perhaps you go for both? If you're celebrating the UK date and you're over in Spain there is no doubt that you'll find a few restaurants are concocting their own lunchtime and evening entertainment. If you just fancy getting away from it all, we've compiled a few suggestions for welcome breaks:

Ambiente - a beauty, health and well-being centre
www.ambientepinoso.com

Olive Branch Retreats - well-being holidays

Cases Noves in Guadalest for weekend breaks

Go on - treat yourself!

Did you know?

…about the Spanish political system? For frank and clear information listen to Graham Knight's interview on Viva TV's website www.vivatv.es/faq Whilst you're there you could also find out more about what the consulate does for the expat population on the Costa Blanca. Paul Rodwell, British Consul, provides an interesting account of his new role and reminds us that many of the questions British expats need answering can be found on:
